# HopON — Privacy Policy

## Overview

HopON is a public transport departure app for Melbourne, Australia. Your privacy matters — this policy explains what data the app accesses and how it's handled.

## Data We Access

### Location Data
HopON accesses your device's location **only while the app is in use** to find nearby public transport stops. Your location is sent directly to the PTV (Public Transport Victoria) Timetable API to retrieve stop and departure information.

### Locally Stored Preferences
The following is saved on your device only (via UserDefaults):
- Favorited stops (stop name, ID, coordinates, and transport type)
- Search radius preference
- Transport mode filter selections

## Data We Do NOT Collect

- We do **not** collect, store, or transmit your location to any server we operate
- We do **not** use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs
- We do **not** create user accounts or profiles
- We do **not** share any data with third parties (aside from PTV API requests necessary for the app to function)

## Third-Party Services

HopON communicates with the **PTV Timetable API** (operated by Public Transport Victoria) to retrieve stop locations and departure times. Your approximate location (latitude/longitude) is included in these API requests. ## Data Retention

All preferences are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling the app removes all stored data. No data is retained on any external server.

## Children's Privacy

HopON does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Updates to this policy will be reflected here with a revised date.
